Courtney Barber of Team Mustang Girls loves driving her ’65 Mustang, and when we say that we mean it. To the point that when she’s not driving it she’s just plain bored. And that was her mood last Monday.
Day 2 of the Goodguys Hall of Fame Road Tour started out in Carson City, Nevada. During the night a few more cars joined the tour and after the drivers meeting we were off and headed to the Nevada Northern Railway Museum in Ely, NV.
Saturday morning the Goodguys Tour was greeted with a wet start in Wendover, NV. That wasn’t the last stop the road warriors though. We headed East for the first stop of the day at Miller Motorsports Park, home to the Larry H, Miller Total Performance Museum, officially the only museum Courtney has ever enjoyed visiting!
I’m Courtney Barber, driver of Team Mustang Girls, on the road with the Goodguys Hall of Fame Road Tour. I’m going to take a different twist on my normal road blog updates and write this one first-person so you get a little more Courtney, and a little less Morgan Freeman narrator voice.
You may be wondering why there’s a delay in between the last coverage. I could blame it on the lack of internet in small towns or rushed schedule but the truth is it’s the Goodguys on the tour. They aren’t kidding with the name. The people I met on the tour were incredible.
Day 6, also known as the day it rained! If you’ve been following along with the tour you may have noticed that throughout the week we were either being chased or chasing a storm. Each day we had a good bit of sunshine and I kept looking at it as a great way of getting the car clean without trying.
Day 7 of the Goodguys Road Tour started out in Lincoln, Nebraska with a light rain that eventually subsided and was replaced with a warm welcome from the cozy little town of Manhattan, Kansas, where the city blocked off the main street and invited the Tour participants to park center-stage.
Day 8 started with the regular morning driver’s meeting in the host hotel lobby, with everyone realizing that it would be our last of this trip and soon asking, “Where did the time go?” Understandably, Goodguys’ Ed Capen, our organizer and handler for the week, made a point to tell everyone not to call him the next morning asking where to meet!
Fresh off of Rally North America, Team Mustang Girls headed to Mustang Week, what’s another 100 miles after driving 5,000? Courtney Barber arrived at the Myrtle Beach Speedway Wednesday night to find Vaughn Gittin Jr giving rides to some lucky contest winners.
Team Mustang Girls is on the road again! This time they’re headed to Rt. 50 for Rally North America! The trip started out Saturday afternoon. After a quick stop at Impact Image Group for some last minute decals, Courtney Barber headed to the Charlotte airport to pick up teammate, Lea Anne Powell.
Since swapping from a six-cylinder to a 351 Windsor, Team Mustang Girls has gone through 3 sets of motor mounts in their 65 Mustang. Initially, some of the boys proposed that the car is out of tune, however, the shake is not the engine misfiring.
Courtney Barber and Lisa Wilmuth of Team Mustang Girls are on the road again with Bullrun! The rally starts in Times Square in New York City and ends in Scottsdale, Arizona. This was Courtney’s second time starting the rally in NY and what a difference from four years ago.
Why Bullrun? What is it? As the driver of Team Mustang Girls I’ve been asked that question so many times, mostly from my mother! It’s a question that should be easy to answer right? If you’ve been apart of the awesomeness you understand the difficultly. Words just don’t do it justice.
Team Mustang Girls is on the road again! This time they are headed to catch the Pony Drive in Nashville and will travel to Asheville before heading to Charlotte for the Mustang 50th Anniversary Celebration! The girls will be racing on the track Thursday, participating in the Friday night Cruise for the Wounded Warrior Project and hosting a Mustang Girl Meet Up on Saturday.
Team Mustang Girls continued their journey on the Pony Drive to Asheville yesterday. And they made it! Which was questionable at the beginning of the day! Courtney woke up at 6 am and started the day by checking on the car.
On Wednesday Team Mustang Girls woke up in Asheville, NC for the final leg of the Pony Drive to Charlotte for the 50th Anniversary. The weather was cold and the battery called it quits for good. After getting a jump the girls stopped at at the local parts house for a new one and then they were rolling again.
